Our recording studio Carriage House gallops with PhantomFocus™

Ron Flack’s studio in Canton, Ohio installs the PhantomFocus System (PFS™) in its new DIY-inspired installation PhantomFocus MixRoom™.

Nashville, TN: In what has become an observable trend, some audio professionals who are not budgeted for a full design and implementation of a Carl Tatz Design PhantomFocus MixRoom™ with PFM Master Reference Monitors opt instead for a do-it-yourself approach. When they buy a Carl Tatz Design owner PhantomFocus™ system (allowing all monitors to perform to their true potential – in any room) they have access to ongoing consultation and guidance from Tatz while the end user acoustically treats their own listening space . Once complete, the Carl Tatz Design installation team travels to the site and commissions the turnkey PhantomFocus system on site, and the customer still benefits from the incredible power of PhantomFocus monitoring.

Engineer/producer and studio owner Ron Flack, guided by suggestions from Carl Tatz Design to make their space acoustically ready for PhantomFocus after purchasing the famed Phantom Focus System for studio monitoring, had these comments: “It was great to demonstrate the PhantomFocus system to our engineers and customers when they came into the studio. I keep hearing comments like “Immersive”, “I can’t get over the imagery” and assorted swear words, usually when the vocals or bass drops. Personally, I feel like I can edit reverb tails properly without using headphones. In the short time I’ve been adjusting the mixes with the PFS, I’m getting much better translation from system to system. Flack continues, “It was just a pleasure that Carl and Adam ordered this amazing monitoring tool in our room. Thank you thank you thank you. I am so grateful for the level of attention they put into every detail.”

Studio designer and creator of the PhantomFocus system Carl Tatz reflects, “Ron is a classic example of someone who experienced PFS in one of our PF MixRooms™ and immediately knew he had never heard anything like it before and then found a way to achieve it in its existing space within its budget. As we have maintained, the PhantomFocus sweet spot can be produced in a chamber that has been made acoustically PFS compatible. Ron has just gone the extra mile for his commercial clients.
