Shure launches two new pairs of headphones for the recording studio

Whenever Shure announces a new product, it’s always worth sitting down and taking a closer look. Today, the iconic audio brand launches two new models in the brand’s SRH headphones portfolio. These new closed models feature significant design improvements and what Shure calls “nuanced improvements in audio quality”.

Today’s headphone market is almost as much about fashion as it is about sound, which is why brands like Shure need to keep their designs fresh and stylish. Shure says the second generation of its award-winning SRH440A and SRH840A models deliver superior sound, long-lasting comfort, and the classic Shure durability that audio professionals love. Both new SRH headphones have been designed for creators and recording professionals and deliver superior sound with improved capabilities and a modern design.

According to Sean Sullivan, Global Product Manager, Listening Products, Shure, “Today’s consumers want high-quality sound without sacrificing style and comfort. This upgrade offers just that – a low-profile design that looks great on camera and improved acoustics to ensure clean, consistent audio reproduction. Recording pros and content creators will benefit from professional headphones that feature Shure’s signature signature sound and a fresh, modern design.

Both new models have been optimized for critical listening and studio monitoring, with nuanced improvements that include lower harmonic distortion and more accurate left and right driver matching. The SRH840A has a precisely matched frequency response powered by 40mm neodymium dynamic drivers that can deliver rich bass, clear mids as well as extended highs. A wide, padded headband and foldable design combine to create a more comfortable and clearer listening experience.

The SRH440A headphones are engineered with a detailed frequency response that delivers precise sound for podcasting, home recording, and critical editing and mixing. A consistent, uncolored response provides a proper representation of sound, making it ideal for talents to use during recording sessions.

The SRH440A and SRH840A incorporate the following features:

  • Improved comfort for extended wear. The closed circumaural design sits comfortably on the listener’s ears and reduces background noise for improved comfort, even during extended recording sessions.
  • A new industrial design with a matte finish that’s more photogenic than the previous design and tough enough to withstand the rigors of everyday use. A 3m/9.84ft straight cable is standard on every model for increased mobility in creative spaces.
  • Both headphones provide optimized sound signatures for creating and editing. The SRH840A’s custom frequency response delivers rich bass, clear mids, and extended highs. The transparent and natural sound signature of the SRH440A delivers detailed and accurate sound over an extended range.
